Last Sunday I took part in the second-annual Art Boot Fair at the Redwell Brewery in Norwich. I popped by last year to take a look, as it was being organised by the brilliant Print to the People. I was so impressed by the organisation and quality of work on show. I made a point of applying this year!
Like most outdoor events, you're at the mercy of mother nature and I was fearing the worst as the heavens opened at around 10am. Luckily that was only bit of rain we had all day. The weather was glorious and that meant that a huge crowd of people arrived to enjoy the live music, delicious food and handmade goods (there was also a healthy amount of beer available!)
To be honest I had pretty modest expectations in terms of sales, I mainly just wanted to be involved and support such a great event happening in Norwich. Actually it turned out to be quite a successful day!
I was trying out my new Paypal iPad app, which allowed me to take card payments in-person, this was a huge help as many of my products cost a bit more than people take to a car boot (even an 'arty' one!). I'd recommend any designer/maker to find a way of taking card payments in-person, it's really quite easy and can make a big difference to your sales.
Overall, I'd like to thank Vicky and Jo from Print to the People for having me along and giving Norwich such a brilliant annual event.
